Massachusetts Advocates for
Nursing Home Reform (“MANHR”) is a network of nursing home residents,
families and advocates concerned about quality, individualized care
for nursing home residents. Formed in September 2000, the group includes
the members of active nursing home family-run councils as well as friends
of nursing home residents.

The mission of Massachusetts
Advocates for Nursing Home Reform is to improve the quality of care
and ensure the dignity and quality of life for Massachusetts nursing
home residents.
Purpose
The purpose of MANHR is to
advocate for the rights of Massachusetts nursing home residents.
Goals
- To promote and empower Family-Run Councils in Massachusetts nursing
homes
- To provide consultation, education and on-going support to nursing
home residents and their advocates (family members, friends and
caregivers)
- To promote effective solutions for improving the care and treatment
of nursing home residents
- To raise public awareness of the conditions in Massachusetts nursing
homes
- To provide a voice for residents and their advocates to address
quality of care issues with state and federal legislators and regulatory
agencies
